Information Sessions Underway for Biomanufacturing Bachelor’s Degree Launching at Pierce in Spring 2026
Pierce is currently hosting a series of drop-in, virtual information sessions for the upcoming Bachelor of Science in Biomanufacturing program, which is set to launch in Spring 2026. The sessions are open to current and prospective students, families, educators, and community members who are interested in learning more about the program and its career potential in California’s rapidly growing biotechnology sector. The virtual information sessions provide a valuable opportunity for interested individuals to explore the program in advance, ask questions, and begin planning for admission. Pierce College Literary Magazine Directions Returns with “The Resurrection Edition”
After a years-long hiatus, Directions, the literary magazine of Los Angeles Pierce College, returned to print this fall with a powerful new issue aptly titled “The Resurrection Edition.” First published in 1959, Directions has long served as a platform for student creativity and expression, but this marks the first issue since the COVID-19 pandemic disrupted campus life and halted publication.
To celebrate its return, the Directions staff and the Pierce College English Department invite students, faculty, alumni, and the community to a Release Party and Reading on Monday, October 13 at 6:00 p.m. at Game N’ Grounds (21727 Devonshire St., Chatsworth, CA 91311). The event is free and open to the public and will feature live readings from student contributors, refreshments, and copies of the magazine available on-site.

Pierce Presents Inaugural Hospitality Industry Showcase and Symposium
The L.A. Pierce College (LAPC) Hospitality Management Department is proud to announce its inaugural Hospitality Management Showcase & Symposium on Thursday, October 16, 2025, from 8:00 AM to 2:00 PM in the college’s Building 600. This half-day event will bring together students, educators, and industry leaders for critical discussions aimed at shaping the future of the regional workforce and elevating the customer experience through partnerships that promote educational programs and on-the-job skills training.
The symposium will address the rapid evolution of the hospitality sector, specifically the need for new skill sets required by advancements in artificial intelligence and the demands of personalized experiences. Panels will delve into current industry trends, the importance of mastering essential technical abilities alongside vital soft skills such as emotional intelligence and adaptability which are indispensable for creating authentic human connections.
UPCOMING EVENT AND HIGHLIGHTS & ACADEMIC WORKSHOPS / ASSISTANCE
The Transfer Center is hosting a CSU application workshop on Monday, October 13, 2025, from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., held in the Student Services Building, 1st Floor – Transfer Center on campus. Attendees will receive guidance on filling out CSU applications. If you need accommodations or have questions about accessibility, contact Sunday Salter in advance.
Dr. Amy Snyder will lead a suicide prevention workshop on Monday, October 13, 2025 and Thursday, October 16, 2025 from 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m., in LLC 5111 (under the library) on campus. Participants will learn how to recognize signs of suicidal behavior, explore resources available, and find out how to intervene, if needed. This event is open to all.
Crack the Code: Read and Use Academic Articles Like a Pro
Learn how to break down dense scholarly writing and turn it into usable insights at the Crack the Code workshop on Monday, October 13, 2025, from 5:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. The event will be held online, so you can join from anywhere. You’ll discover strategies for identifying key sections, evaluating peer‑reviewed research, and reading efficiently to support your own writing.
Get Lit: Light Up Your Literature Research Skills
Join this workshop on Tuesday, October 14, 2025, from 5:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m., held online. You’ll learn how to locate critical essays and scholarly articles, use key databases and library tools, and apply strategies to deepen your literary analysis.
Meet Your Major Fair: Discover Your Path at Pierce College
On Wednesday, October 15, 2025, from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., join us at The Great Hall on campus for the Meet Your Major Fair. This public event invites students to explore their academic options at Pierce College—meet faculty and department representatives, ask about career paths, coursework, and possible transfer universities.
LAPC Hospitality Industry Showcase & Symposium

LAPC Theatre Presents Frankenstein
Beginning Friday, October 24, 2025, LAPC Theatre will stage John Nick Dear’s acclaimed adaptation of Frankenstein in the Performing Arts Mainstage, with performances continuing through Sunday, November 2. Showtimes are Fridays and Saturdays at 7:30 pm and Sundays at 2:00 pm, including a special sign‑interpreted performance on Saturday, October 25 at 7:30 pm. Directed by Shaheen Vaaz and featuring scenic design, lighting, costumes, and original music, this production explores the haunting themes of creation, rejection, and human identity. Tickets are $15 for students/seniors and $20 general admission; free parking is available in Lot 6.
