Financial aid is made available by federal and state governments and private sources in the form of grants, scholarships, employment and loans. Financial aid funds makes it possible for students to continue their education beyond high school, even if they and/or their family cannot meet the full cost of the college they choose to attend.
Before you apply for financial aid, determine your Eligibility
Prior to applying online, visit the fsaid.ed.gov to obtain a Federal Student Aid ID so that you may electronically sign your FAFSA. If you are a dependent student, your parent(s) may also apply for the FSA ID. If you and/or your parent does not have a FSA ID for an electronic signature, be sure to print and mail the signature page when you transmit your FAFSA.
Both the FAFSA and the California Dream Act applications open October 1st of each year. To receive full consideration for Los Angeles Pierce College awards, you must first submit the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) or the Renewal FAFSA by the March 2nd priority application deadline. The Los Angeles Pierce College Federal School Code is 001226.
The priority application deadline is established to encourage early application for financial aid and limited funded programs such as Federal Work-Study and Federal Supplemental Educational Opportunity Grant (FSEOG).
Students who apply after the March 2nd priority application deadline may only be considered for the Federal Pell Grant and the Federal Stafford Loans. Please note that applying for financial aid late may cause delay in funding.
